for the Vancouver Folk Music Festival
Pickin' a Folk Star contest
Volunteers
without their help the festival
might not be here
they built it from the ground up
just like pioneers
with glowing hearts
for thee we rise
though you may not know their names
we wont forget
just how much they're worth
its an enduring kind of fame
when you put
others first
Volunteers
They man the gates,
and clear your plates
even bring you beers
with smiling faces
even when the bugs appear
not even rain
can douse their flame
And when it comes to security
they keep the peace
and maintain the cheer
like the mountains
surround the sea
they protect
without fear
Volunteers
they come together like a choir
in unity
could teach a singer something
about harmony
you are the true stars
every year
oh its true that they got in free
but when you work in the house of merch
like a dog for a day or three
all you get
is a lovely shirt
